Congratulations to D.Net co-founder and Permanent Representative of Bangladesh in Geneva Ambassador Debapriya Bhattacharya for unanimously electing as president of the Trade and Development Board (TDB) of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (Unctad) for one year.
Debapriya took over the charge on September 15, 2008 after hewas elected by the 193 UN member states.
TDB is the highest policy making body after the quadrennial ministerial conference of the Unctad, a Geneva-based organ of the UN General Assembly.
As president of the TDB, Debapriya will lead Unctad to implementing the instructions and guidelines provided by the heads of state and government and the ministers during the Unctad conference held in Accra, Ghana, earlier this year.
He will also give leadership to inter-governmental and inter-agency dialogues on the current issues of critical concern in the areas of trade and development.
Debapriya, who will represent Unctad in all UN events, is the first Bangladeshi ambassador elected to this post. The entire D.Net family feels proud for his achievement.
