Workshop on Resource Mobilization
Duration: 9-10 September, 2008

D.Net (Development Research Network) organised a workshop on Resource Mobilization (RM) under its Human Resource Capacity Building Programme on September 09-10, 2008 at D.Net. Mr. Mahmud Hasan, Head of Theme 5 facilitated the workshop. Twenty employees of D.Net participated in that workshop.

“Successful completion of a project is not the end rather a beginning of new opportunity”- with this speech the facilitator welcomed all participants in the workshop. The specific objectives of this workshop were:

One, collecting information on prospective donors, organizations, individuals who could provide financial support in accomplishing mission 2010

Two, formulating strategic target oriented RM plan to attract different donors, organizations, and individuals for supporting mission 2010 

Three, capacity building of staffs and board members for RM

Four, dissemination of mission 2010 and work plan of D.Net to a group of target oriented donors, organizations and individuals

Five, preparing selected number of proposals for mobilizing resources in line with RM plan of mission 2010.

To build up capacity in RM, this workshop was very effective for the selected staffs. Starting from what is D.Net, why RM is important for D.Net, defining RM, fundraising sources, relationship with donor were discussed in details. How to write a project proposal was a big session for the whole workshop where defining the project goal and objectives, fund raising and finally its implementation was elaborately discussed. The workshop came to an end with 3 months work plan which is appended below:

  • Submission of project proposal by one week
  • Locate potential donors and establish communication by next one month
  • Mature at-least one negotiation by next 2 months.
