D.Net recognizes that poverty is multidimensional and that lack of access to information
is one reason why poor people are unable to help themselves out of poverty. In
Bangladesh, many of the poor do not generally have access to information sources like
the television or the radio. They also cannot afford to buy newspapers and most are

Bangladesh Telecentre Network (BTN) has been launched on January 13, 2007. For floating this network a consultation meeting titled ‘Towards Mission- 2011: Building Telecentre Family in Bangladesh’ was held at BRAC Centre INN, Dhaka. The primary agenda of BTN is to launch Mission 2011 under which telecentres will be set up all across Bangladesh by the 40th anniversary Bangladesh’s independence so that every villager can have access to livelihood services through ICTs. More than 100 participants were back with great inspiration and enthusiagm after their return from international workshop titled building telecentre family in Bangladesh was held on 27-29 August, 2006 at RDRS, Rangpur successfully.
